Technical Expertise and Assistance for Free Trade Agreement Negotiations and IP Dialogues

As the IP Key SEA action is designed to facilitate FTA negotiations and IP dialogues, the project will provide technical expertise and assistance geared towards strengthening knowledge-based policy making in SEA countries by conducting IP studies and providing other forms of assistance that may be required.

Support to Strengthen the GI Systems of SEA Countries

Area: South-East Asia Location: Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Thailand

This activity entails the provision of technical support to Brunei Darussalam in the planned establishment of a sui generis GI system, as well as to Malaysia and Thailand to strengthen their respective GI systems.

Integration in TMview, DesignView and TMclass

This activity supports the integration of SEA IP offices in the EUIPO global databases, which assure the accessibility of updated information on trade marks (TMview) and industrial designs (DesignView) for the benefit of IP stakeholders worldwide.

IP Key SEA launches its fourth Annual Work Plan

The EU-funded project, IP Key South-East Asia, (IP Key SEA) implemented its first, second, and third Annual Work Plans in 2018, 2019, and 2020 respectively. In January 2021, IP Key SEA launched its fourth Annual Work Plan to assist Southeast Asian countries in addressing IP-related challenges and support these countries in developing IP regulations to align with international standards.

Technical assistance in updating the content of the ASEAN IP Case Law


Q3-Q4 2020

Under the ECAP III Phase II Project (2015), the reference search tool ‘ASEAN IP Case Law’ was developed for officials from the ASEAN IP institutions and judiciary. Currently, the database consists of 151 IP decisions from Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
